RIP Elvis..."unchained melody" just weeks before he passed.

and YES, it's poetry!
And very great song and singing!
This is a big song. I do a version in my box office concerts.
But mine is speeded up more like the dowop version. Either way sounds
great to me.]
Hard for anyone to match Elvis's or the Righteous Brother's versions.
:  )
I'm just amazed at how in tact his voice was all things
considered.  I mean, if the autopsy was accurate, his
liver was just about toast during this performance.
Also, he had glaucoma and severe hyper tension
which he constantly tried to calm down with barbiturates.
He also had an enlarged colon and and high
blood pressure.  He was a walking corpse during
this performance if all of that is accurate.  Yet,
I love listening to the power of his voice and emotional
content in the delivery.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that Elvis earned
his place at the top.  It wasn't handed to him.  And,
I think this performance is testament to that observation.
Long live the King!
P.S.  BTW, this performance was initially set to
be released in the same light as the Vegas and
Hawaii shows.  However, it was never released
because a few weeks later he was dead.  Thank
God for youtube otherwise my point might be mute
with only my own word to back it and no concrete
evidence.
They seem to have released almost everything else they could find, but
never this... yet?

Thanks for posting, though!

Well my research has revealed that they've put most, if not all, of
the t.v. stuff out on dvd...all except this one, which is a shame. I
mean, Elvis is visibly overweight which might not be the contrast his
family and friends want people to witness. However, the fact that the
show was done just weeks before his demise seems to cast more of a
bitter sweet feeling for not releasing it. I mean, the show is not
one of his best. Yet, it's not one of his worst either. While he is
visibly weak and overweight, his musical prowess, as heard in the
above link, is still very much on target.

Maybe it's time for people to start reconsidering the whole victim of
fame light that's been cast his way. He may have been unhealthy, but
he was no victim...not musically, at least. And, after all, isn't
that what really matters as far as history is concerned??

Long live the King!
